In 2008 we ran an "EDU-BLITZ"! We contributed C$6,000 in the summer for scholarships awarded to thirteen teachers for the 2008-09 academic year. They are all 3rd year students in a 4-year ECE diploma program, and with your help we plan to fund their final year's studies as well.

Our first scholarship was awarded to Ms. Harla McPherson for the 2003-04 academic year. She completed her 2-year program at Sam Sharpe College in Montego Bay and is now back teaching as principal at Bath ECI, George's Plain.

Criteria for Eligibility

Candidates must:

• have a minimum education of high school/secondary school graduation and have at least two years’ experience teaching at an ECI in Westmoreland, Jamaica
• demonstrate community involvement, especially with children ages 3-5
• make a commitment to work in the ECE field in Westmoreland for at least two years after completing the funded program/course
